Welcome to the Meritorious Consulting family!

The world is changing rapidly.  Large legacy institutions are being disrupted by innovation in many sectors, from media to finance. As the saying goes.. You can’t stop progress.

Meritorious Consulting was created to bridge the information gap concerning this new frontier of financial technology.  At present time, there is an incredible asymmetry of knowledge concerning bitcoin and other cryptographic or blockchain based assets.

As with all disruptive technology, there is always an advantage for those who have the vision and are willing to take some calculated risks to explore a frontier. Investing is the ability to know when something is undervalued before others do.

We provide a range of services and products designed to make it easy for almost anyone from individuals to accredited wealth investors to make more informed decisions going forward.  We don’t give investment, legal, or trading advice but do provide education on a wide variety of topics that arm our clients with valuable knowledge and a vast toolbox of skills.

Our lead consultant, Christopher Merrett, has been involved in Bitcoin since early 2010 and has worked tirelessly since then to learn about and share the multitude of benefits this exciting technology has to offer.

In this online world it is important that you protect your assets! There are unscrupulous people out there who will take advantage of poor security practices. We’re here to ensure that doesn’t happen to you.

One of the aspects of cryptocurrencies is that they use strong encryption in order to work. Bitcoin private keys are a long string of letters and numbers that function as an address. This address is where your bitcoins are “stored”. When you send bitcoins your private key has the correct number of coins subtracted from that address and those coins are added to the private key of the person you are sending them to who will then be the only keyholder to that number of coins at that address.

These private keys are so unique amongst such a great number of possible combinations that it would take a great number of supercomputers hundreds of thousands of years of trying every available combination to guess them. So bitcoin itself is very secure and it’s private keys have never been cracked. However, those private keys can be stolen by online thieves if they are left on a computer or smartphone and connected to the internet. The encryption that protects the wallet file is only as good as the password strength used.

The chance of as skilled cracker opening your online wallet with a brute force method (trying every possible combination) is typically at least an order of magnitude  easier than guessing a sha256 bitcoin private key.   Holding, spending, and receiving crypto-money is now possible with an incredibly high degree of security that is unparalleled in the traditional banking world, if ….you have the the correct tools and operational procedures. We can guide you step by step through the process so you can feel confident and in complete control of your own digital assets. That’s a nearly unprecedented position to be in for most people in recent history as most traditional assets or currencies must be secured by a third party like a bank.
